Ronchi rulings, also known as Ronchi Rulings or Ronchi Gratings, are transmission test charts consisting of evenly spaced parallel line patterns. They can be used for checking the resolution of imaging optical systems such as cameras, lenses, and microscopes, as well as for distortion evaluation, diffraction observation, and moiré observation. Shibuya Optical’s Ronchi rulings use fused silica substrates, making them suitable for optical evaluation applications, including those involving the ultraviolet region, and for applications where dimensional stability is important. They are also offered at an accessible price range compared with equivalent overseas products.

This product is intended as a test chart for optical system evaluation and observation.
For dimensional measurement or calibration applications, please consider glass standard scales, calibration plates, or similar products.
The following is a general guide for use. Please select the appropriate product according to your actual application.
1 to 10 lines/mm: The stripe pattern is easy to observe visually, making these suitable for visual checks and moiré observation.
50 to 200 lines/mm: Suitable for checking camera and lens distortion, as well as for evaluating microscopes and high-magnification optical systems.
400 to 600 lines/mm: These very fine patterns are suitable for high-magnification optical systems, diffraction observation, and high-spatial-frequency pattern evaluation.
